Author Sharon Hearne-Smith's Retro Kitchen
I love a bit of nostalgia. Both in the retro-kitchen sense and in the sense of remembering how you got started. So with that in mind, here’s a little #ThrowbackThursday for you all (even though I’m writing this on a Tuesday. Why isn’t #ThrowbackTuesday a thing? It is now!). The day after we shot Sharon Hearne-Smith’s kitchen for House and Home magazine, I wrote the following on my Instagram;
“Yesterday we shot in the home of food writer & stylist, author and friend @sharonhearnesmith. Sharon was the first person to give me a job in the creative industry back when I was a starry-eyed, but ultimately clueless, almost-22-year-old about to move to Dublin. I saw the job advertised on Twitter, which I had been following her on ever since I came across a feature she did in @Houseandhomemagazine back in 2010. I was 20 at the time, and spent my money on interior design magazines rather than Jagerbombs. Yesterday, along with the same photographer as did the 2010 piece, I was on set as writer and stylist for House and Home’s July/August 2016 issue. Funny how life works its way around like that. Sharon’s new book, The No-Cook Cookbook launches June 2nd. I’m pretty sure this is the kind of thing she’s been wanting to do since she was 20 years old. (Which was only very, very recently I’m sure!)”
