DIY Halloween Decorations That Are Both Stylish and Spooky

DIY Halloween Decorations That Are Both Stylish and Spooky

I’ll be honest, a hell of a lot of the Halloween décor I see in shops is kinda gaudy for my tastes. It’s plastic fantastic, garish and pretty pricey.

If you’d like to enter into the spirit of things and decorate your home for Halloween, but want to do it to your own tastes, DIYing it could be the best option for you. Halloween crafts are also a really sweet activity to embark upon with kids or even a group of your adult friends.

Here are some of the best Halloween DIYs on the internet.

Transfer Wood Plaques

The House That Lars Built has a really cool guide for making these rustic insect transfer plaques. Once you’ve nailed the technique, you could apply the same approach to Christmas or springtime transfers too.

Haunted House Garland

This isn’t a DIY tutorial, but a good inspirational image. By ripping and fraying some gauze fabric, you can easily create a haunted house style garland.

Insect Jars

Again, not a tutorial but more of an idea. You could use a battery-operated tealight, fabric and fake spider to create this creepy look.

Spooky Birdhouses

Make a haunted village with some simple birdhouses and a lick of black paint. You can get simple plywood birdhouses in craft shops or online for a few euros a piece.

Instead of carving your pumpkins, have a go at hand-painting them.
